Who can take part in the activities with Go Paddle?

We can cater for anyone aged from 6 – 96 and older! Our Slaney river tours are suitable for kids aged from 6 – 11 in a double kayak accompanied by an adult and then kids aged 12+ can take a single kayak. We have a great range of packages available, we can cater for school groups, scouts, families, friends, team building activities on the water, hen & stag groups and birthday parties.

One of the most popular tours we have on offer is our Slaney River tours. This tour is ideal for families and equally enjoyed by groups of adults too. On this tour you can kayak through the River Slaney, learn some local history, have some fun and identify the local wildlife. At different times of the year on the banks you have lovely flowers growing in the spring / summer time then in the winter you have blackberries and hazelnuts on the trees and everyone loves to pick some blackberries or hazelnuts for a snack on their journey.

We provide all of the gear for your adventure the only thing you need to bring with you is a pair of runners that you don’t mind getting wet, a togs for under your wet suit and a towel to dry off and a big sense of adventure.

We also offer self-guided tours; we know that there is a lot of people like us that just want to go out and have an adventure themselves so this is why we offer our self-guided tours. Anyone over 12 and can swim can take part in the self-guided tours. We recommend that you have kayaked before just so you get the most out of this adventure.

Where is the coolest place you have been on an adventure?

I have been very lucky; I have got to travel the world kayaking. I have been to Nepal, New Zealand, Indonesia, Ecuador and all over Europe. The coolest place I have been for an adventure would have to be the self-supported trip down the river Lariagn in Indonesia with 4 other ladies. Not only were we the first group of kayakers to take part in the 5-day descent we were the first group of female kayakers to complete it! It was a pretty cool trip. Our kayaks were full for the 5 days with food, no real change of clothes and hammocks. We were in the middle of the jungle so we couldn’t pitch tents at night so we hung our hammocks. It was a real cool adventure.

What is your favourite part about being on the water?

That is a tough question for me, but I love the sense of going somewhere! The journeying and everything you take in. It’s a place where I go to clear my mind, I always feel better after I have been on the water. I go to challenge myself and get fitter and I have learnt to build resilience! Each paddle strokes resembles peace and quiet and when you can turn around and see how far you have come!

The water community is great, I find there is a real sense of helping one another out. Everyone is so willing to learn and to teach which is so important.

What makes your adventure stand out from the rest?

One thing we are very passionate about here at go paddle is to teach the group that are in front of us. We don’t have one standard tour; we offer a different experience to each group to suit their needs. We are very safety conscious and we always ensure that you feel comfortable and safe on the water when your taking part in our tours.

Why is it so important to offer these activities in Wexford?

I think everybody who doesn’t live in Wexford appreciate how beautiful the county is and they want to come on holidays here each year. We are all guilty of overlooking what’s on our doorstep. Last Summer some of the best tours of the River Slaney were with local people that have lived here for over 30 years and never discovered Wexford like a lot of tourists have.

Here at go paddle we have a great adventure waiting for you.
