Talk us through the wedding arrivals at Ferrycarrig Hotel.

We have a stunning newly refurbished arrivals area at Ferrycarrig Hotel. You and your guests can enjoy some bubbly and begin the party in this private setting.

This room can also extend out onto the courtyard for those glorious sunny days offering your guests a real holiday feel with the water glistening in the background whilst you enjoy getting those all important photos taken by the rivers edge.

The benefit of having your photos taken here at the arrivals is that you get to be among your guests and get to join in the banter whilst having your photos taken. You can be part of the buzz !

Too often brides and grooms stop off for photos on route and more often than not they get delayed and feel a little rushed when they do arrive back at the hotel.

For a Ferrycarrig wedding we encourage an early ceremony to allow time to get back to the hotel, have photos on site and be among your guests for the whole day. The day is fleeting and so important to plan it well to get the most out of it. This is our tip for the arrivals at the Ferrycarrig Hotel “ be a part of it”. We love hearing the sound of laughter and guests having a good time around this area and you should too!

Lovely fire and large ornate gold framed mirror give the room that lovely cozy but wedding feel to it.

The room is really adaptable no matter the weather,

The fire in the Winter weddings is comforting but looks majestical in the room also.

Your guests can enjoy tea, coffee, homemade biscuits and you can choose to have homemade scones or our strawberry and marshmallow cone.

There will also be alcoholic and non alcoholic punch on arrival.

We have launched a new enhancement brochure with some ideas to add to your existing package; including a delicious selection of hot & cold canapés, macaroons, cheese board, ice cream cart, prosecco & bottled beer.

The Afters.

Around 11pm the guests will have worked up an appetite from all the dancing so we would bring out the bacon butties, cocktail sausages, spicy wedges, tea and coffee and wedding cake.

We find our Tayto crisp butty at 3am is proving to be very popular in the residents bar!

The wedding tasting.

This takes place at Sunday lunchtime in Ferrycarrig Hotel. The tasting is complimentary for the bride & groom. You can taste your starter, soup, main course & dessert.

The Cake

Chocolate biscuit, lemon drizzle and red velvet are this seasons must. There are a lot of naked cakes and cheese board cakes.

We are seeing a decline in the traditional fruit cake.

The Day After.

Keep all your guests together and enjoy a delicious BBQ at Ferrycarrig Hotel. It is the perfect day where you both can let your hair down and relax after the big day!

What should you be thinking about when your booking the big day.

Book well ahead if you are looking for specific dates.  Summer dates generally book two years in advance.

You should have approximate numbers of guests to see if the venue can accommodate the  number of guests you are inviting. Knowing your numbers is the base for your quote.

Decide whether you are having a Civil Ceremony or Church wedding.

Budget – Sit down together and work out your budget.

Don’t ask too many people for their opinions this can lead to confusion and blur your vision on what you want.

Top tips for choosing your venue.

– Location.

– View

– Reputation

– Smoking area

– One wedding per day policy

– Parking

– Bar Extension

Table Plan.

This should be done 2 weeks prior to your wedding day. We will send you a table layout and you

can see how the tables will be set which helps with the plan.

What would you recommend the bride & groom to do before the big day to help them both

relax?

I would highly recommend a day spa in our sister property Monart Destination Spa, it is a perfect

time for you both to wind down and relax before your big day.

What would you recommend the bride & groom to do to relax on the big day?

Get to bed as soon as you can the night before!

Eat a big breakfast! It is a very long day. Make sure you both drink plenty of water.

Give yourself enough time to get ready, you shouldn’t be stressing about time.

Prepare a survival kit for the day. This should include; water, snacks, plasters, lipstick, nail &

eyelash glue a few essentials!

The first dance is very important to couples.

It sure is and it is something you will be asked forever; ‘What was your first dance’ Last year Ed

Sheeran was a huge hit and this year we are seeing a huge mix of songs but we have noticed that

a lot of couples are choreographing dances and some bridal parties are taking part too.

The Waterfront Suite is stunning but there are some extras couples can add to make it more

personal.

Yes it is lovely when a couple can personalise their day. We always encourage couples to DIY it!

Guests always appreciate a good bathroom basket; best things to pop in the baskets are

deodorant, perfume, hair clips, mints, dry shampoo, hair spray, plasters, hair brush, wipes.

A basket of flip flops always go down really well too! It is always a good sign when your guests are

on the dance floor for the night so it’s nice to have the flat shoes for the ladies to dance the night

away in!

Your wedding band is huge part of the night, how do you know what type of band to

choose?

There are many things that your guest will comment on about your wedding, months, and even years after the day itself. Often it’s comments on “How good the food was” or “ How lucky you were with the weather” and so on . But one of the most remembered parts of the evening, not only for the guests but for you too, is the music! People are likely to remember whether they were up dancing all night, or whether they sat it out instead. The point is, that choosing a wedding band is very important. It is important to cover a good mix for all age groups.

See your band live. Know what type of music will get your guests on the dance floor.

Song choice is so important. Have a list of songs you do and do not want to hear. Ask your guests about their favourite songs perhaps on RSVP cards. Check with the band if they do a dj and band package.

Entertainment at weddings are becoming more popular.

For your arrivals music sets the tone and gets people in the celebratory mood.

In the wedding room the sweet carts are very cute, prop tables, cocktail bar, food stations, candy floss, pizza slices station. Guests love to see something different and these stations add a fun element.

Magicians & characters are also good to entertain the guests whilst you are having those all important photos.

Themes are lovely at weddings; couples can let their own personality come through.

Relax and take it all in.

Prioritise time with parents and friends and family whom have travelled a long distance that you don’t see much of. Be sure to move around and not station your self at the one table for the whole night. Dance and have fun!
